چکیده

This paper illustrates a permutation method for implementing multiple comparisons on Pearson’s Chi-square test for an R×C contingency table, using the SAS procedure FREQ and a newly developed SAS macro called CHISQ_MC. This method is analogous to the Tukey-type multiple comparison method for one-way analysis of variance.

Implementing a Multiple Comparison Test for Proportions in a 2xc Crosstabulation in SAS®

This presentation illustrates a method for creating a multiple comparison test for proportions in a 2 x C cross tabulation or contingency table using the FREQ procedure and a SAS macro called compprop. This test is analogous to a Tukey-type multiple comparison test as used with one-way analysis of variance.

Chi-Square Test: Analysis of Contingency Tables

The original chi-square test, often known as Pearson’s chi-square, dates from papers by Karl Pearson in the earlier 1900s. The test serves both as a ”goodnessof-fit” test, where the data are categorized along one dimension, and as a test for the more common ”contingency table”, in which categorization is across two or more dimensions. Voinov and Nikulin, this volume, discuss the controversy ove...

Testing for Simultaneous Pairwise Marginal Independence

1 Introduction What types of cars do you own? What are your sources of veterinary information? For what criminal offenses have you been arrested? These are all example questions appearing on surveys where the respondent is prompted to pick any number of responses from a set of variables that summarize this type of survey data have been called multiple-response (or pick any/c) categorical variab...

Information Identities and Testing Hypotheses: Power Analysis for Contingency Tables

An information theoretic approach to the evaluation of 2 x 2 contingency tables is proposed. By investigating the relationship between the Kullback-Leibler divergence and the maximum likelihood estimator, information identities are established for testing hypotheses, in particular, testing independence. These identities not only validate the calibration of p values, but also yield unified power...

A Test of Quasi-independence in Ordinal Triangular Contingency Tables

A new procedure for testing quasi-independence in an ordinal triangular contingency table is proposed as a generalization of Pearson's chi square test. The test is asymptotically equivalent in terms of power to the corresponding restricted likelihood ratio test for contiguous alternatives. Numerical results are also included in this study.
